Job Description

Data & Migration Specialist 

Location: Houston, Tx

Description:

The Data & Migration Specialist is responsible for supporting organizational data cleanup, validation, and migration efforts associated with ERP implementation and business system transformation projects. This role ensures the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of critical business data by identifying discrepancies, standardizing records, and collaborating with stakeholders to prepare data for successful migration into target systems. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience working with large datasets, ERP platforms, and business processes within manufacturing or supply chain environments. This is a temporary assignment expected to last anywhere from 3-6 months.

Responsibilities:
Data Validation and Cleansing:
  • Review, analyze, and validate data from multiple business systems and databases.
  • Identify duplicate, incomplete, inaccurate, or conflicting records.
  • Cleanse and standardize data in accordance with established business rules and data governance standards.
  • Perform data quality audits and document findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness prior to migration activities.
Data Migration Support:
  • Compare and reconcile data between legacy and target systems.
  • Support extraction, transformation, validation, and loading (ETL) activities associated with ERP implementation projects.
  • Validate item masters, supplier records, inventory data, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and related operational datasets.
  • Assist in migration testing and data validation efforts to ensure successful system deployment.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Partner with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to resolve data discrepancies.
  • Conduct data reviews and validation sessions to confirm accuracy and business readiness.
  • Communicate findings, status updates, and risks to project participants and leadership as required.
Reporting and Documentation:
  • Maintain detailed tracking logs, audit records, and status reports for data cleanup activities.
  • Document data quality issues, resolutions, and migration-related decisions.
  • Support ongoing data governance initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
Technical Skills:
  • Data cleansing, validation, and migration methodologies.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, Power Query, data analysis).
  • ERP systems and master data management concepts.
  • Data reconciliation, auditing, and quality control processes.
  • Understanding of manufacturing, inventory, supplier, and BOM data structures.
Analytical Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to identify trends, inconsistencies, and root causes of data quality issues.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to manage and analyze large datasets efficiently.

Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in data cleansing, data migration, master data management, or related analytical roles.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, filtering, reporting, and data analysis functions.
  • Experience working with large datasets and performing data validation activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve data quality issues.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting ERP implementations, migrations, or system conversions.
  • Experience working with ERP platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), Visual, EPDM, SAP, Oracle, or similar systems.
  • Manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, or ERP implementation experience.
  • Experience with Bills of Materials (BOMs), item masters, inventory management, supplier records, and production data.
  • Knowledge of data governance, master data management, and data quality best practices.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional operational or business system transformation projects.
