Description
We are seeking a Mid-Level Structural Engineer with 5 to 25 years of experience supporting engineering and design projects within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refining, and LNG industries. The successful candidate will have extensive EPC project experience and will be responsible for the structural design, analysis, and evaluation of industrial facilities from conceptual engineering through detailed design, construction support, and project execution.
This role requires a strong technical background in structural engineering, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural engineering calculations and detailed design for Oil & Gas facilities, including refinery, petrochemical, LNG, and other energy projects.
- Design structural steel, reinforced concrete foundations, equipment foundations, pipe racks, platforms, buildings, shelters, access structures, and miscellaneous support structures.
- Develop structural specifications, calculations, design reports, and engineering deliverables.
- Review vendor drawings and coordinate structural requirements with equipment suppliers.
- Coordinate with piping, civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project execution.
- Participate in structural design reviews, constructability reviews, and interdisciplinary model reviews.
- Support field engineering activities by responding to RFIs, reviewing construction issues, and providing engineering solutions during construction.
- Ensure structural designs comply with applicable client specifications, industry standards, and governing building codes.
- Assist with estimating engineering hours, project planning, and schedule development.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Structural Engineering (required).
- 5 to 25 years of structural engineering experience.
- Experience supporting Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, and/or LNG facilities.
- Previous experience working for an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) company is required.
- Strong knowledge of structural analysis and design principles for Oil & Gas facilities.
- Experience designing:
- Structural steel systems
- Reinforced concrete foundations
- Pipe racks
- Equipment foundations
- Industrial buildings and platforms
- Access structures and miscellaneous steel
- Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards including:
- AISC Steel Construction Manual
- ASCE 7
- ACI 318
- International Building Code (IBC)
- OSHA structural requirements
- Experience reviewing fabrication drawings and coordinating with construction teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced EPC project environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.
- Experience with structural analysis and design software such as:
- STAAD.Pro
- SACS
- 3D modeling platforms
- Experience supporting brownfield and grassroots capital projects.
