Project Controls Specialist III
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Description:
Supports project team by providing financial controls and tracking for regional capital projects, and project manager with management tools, controls, and analysis, allowing manager to make informed decisions with accurate and timely data.
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities: (functions considered essential as defined by ADA)
- Leads in the overall project cost and schedule control efforts during capital efforts
- Initiates correct structuring setups to facilitate data collection and control monitoring during the execution process
- Tracks contractor performance, processes payments and logistics
- Tracks and forecasts costs throughout life of the project
- Tracks progress against budget throughout year
- Sets safety example by keeping current on LRST and other safety initiatives within the plans
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their superior, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years in planning, estimating, and construction/maintenance management in a process plant environment is required.
Education Level:
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Preferred Educational Level:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other technical discipline is preferred.
Required Skills:
- Broad understanding of engineering, construction, logistics and financial processes.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting, contracting, and procurement software systems and processes.
- Spreadsheet software skills.
- Ability to work in a fast paced work environment and deliver to required deadlines.
- Ability to work additional hours as required to support project control efforts.
- Prioritization skills are required.
- Ability to see how all the pieces affect the overall refinery, i.e., big picture perspective.
- Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication.
- Advanced reading and writing skills, with the ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations.
Preferred Skills:
- General proficiency in Microsoft packages Word, Outlook, Excel, Project, Access as well as Primavera (P6) etc.
- General knowledge of procedures and practices for contracting field construction activities are preferred.
Work Conditions:
- Office based with up to 5% travel by land and air required.
- Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels tanks, rotating equipment, loud noise and vibrations.
- Subject to all temperatures, weather and varying road conditions.
Physical Requirements:
- Job conditions require sitting, talking or hearing, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, perceiving color difference, and wearing personal protective equipment (beards not permitted).
- Job conditions may require standing, walking, making visual inspections, lifting and/or carrying up to 10lbs, and ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential, valid state drivers license and proof of insurance required.
