Job Description

Lead Engineering Surveyor

Location: Pasadena, Tx

Description:

Obtain laser scan surveys of equipment, piping, and structures inside chemical plant and refining environments.

Core Job Responsibilities
  • Perform 3D laser scanning of physical facilities using long range laser scanners. (i.e. Leica, Faro)
  • Perform 3D point cloud data processing/registration and deliverable creation.
  • Support Internal/External Customers i.e., sales and marketing, customer demonstrations, seminars, conference calls, blogs, webinars, presales client visits etc.
  • Assist in planning and execution of field and lab projects.
  • Assist in QA/QC of all deliverable types.
  • Confer with customer representatives to review schematics and answer questions pertaining to results.
  • Working from sketches, notes and other input materials, develop detailed AutoCAD drawings.
  • Review of contract documents with team members and checking of drawings for accuracy and coordination.
  • Assist in generating 3D models, drawings, or similar deliverables for internal and external clients.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 year working in the 3D Scanning / Metrology and / or 3D Modeling industry required.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC card.
  • Have an understanding and knowledge in Leica Cyclone, Leica Cloudworx, Leica Jetstream, Leica TrueView, Autodesk Recap, Faro Scene, Aveva LFM, and/or other supporting software packages. (Experience with Leica software packages is preferred)
  • Have an understanding and know-how of various 3D Modeling – CAD platforms (i.e. AutoCAD, CADWorx, Plant 3D, etc.).
  • Understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing methods not required but is a plus.
  • Surveying background is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and good people skills a must.
  • Work well under pressure and understands deadlines
  • Ability to quickly learn new software tools and teach others on your team.
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting on laser scanner.
Physical Requirements
  • Occasionally lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Sit for long periods of time
  • Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch, climb
  • Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects
Environment:
Working conditions encountered in this job include those found in a typical office setting as well as an indoor/outdoor manufacturing setting which includes exposure to outside weather conditions, work at elevated heights, climbing of stairs and ladders, and physical manipulation of tools and mechanical equipment. This job demands the use of typical manufacturing personal protective equipment as well as advanced protective equipment as needed.
