Description:
Play an integral role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and high-quality installation of electrical systems on some of the world's most important energy, chemicals, resources, and infrastructure projects. As an Electrical Quality Control Inspector, you will serve as a key member of the project quality team, verifying that electrical installations, materials, equipment, and workmanship meet project specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time in the field working directly with construction teams, electrical contractors, engineers, quality personnel, and project leadership to verify compliance, identify issues, and support successful project execution. Your attention to detail, technical knowledge, and commitment to quality will directly contribute to safe project delivery, operational reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Working within a multidisciplinary project environment, you will help establish a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement while supporting the company's commitment to delivering sustainable change.
Responsibilities:
The Electrical Quality Control Inspector is responsible for performing field inspections and verification activities to ensure electrical systems, installations, and associated construction activities comply with project specifications, approved drawings, applicable codes, customer requirements, and industry standards.
You will work closely with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and quality teams to monitor installation activities, evaluate workmanship, verify compliance, and support the resolution of quality issues. Through proactive field engagement and technical expertise, you will help ensure that electrical systems are installed correctly the first time, reducing rework and supporting safe, efficient project execution.
This role plays a critical part in maintaining quality standards throughout construction, commissioning, turnover, and startup activities while contributing to the long-term reliability and performance of project facilities.
You will be responsible for:
- Performing detailed inspections of electrical systems, equipment, components, and installations to verify compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, industry standards, and applicable regulations.
- Supporting project quality programs and helping ensure all electrical construction activities meet project quality requirements.
- Collaborating with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and quality teams to promote quality excellence and compliance.
- Verifying installation of electrical equipment, cable systems, grounding systems, raceways, terminations, switchgear, MCCs, transformers, instrumentation systems, and associated infrastructure.
- Identifying, documenting, and reporting non-conformances while supporting project teams in the implementation of corrective actions.
- Monitoring contractor and subcontractor compliance with project quality requirements and approved procedures.
- Participating in inspections, audits, surveillance activities, and quality assessments across the project.
- Reviewing inspection reports, test records, turnover documentation, and quality control records for completeness and compliance.
- Providing practical guidance regarding quality assurance processes, inspection requirements, and electrical standards.
- Supporting testing, commissioning, and startup readiness activities related to electrical systems.
- Assisting project teams in resolving electrical quality concerns and improving installation performance.
- Maintaining accurate and complete records of inspections, tests, observations, audits, and compliance activities.
- Supporting customer inspections, third-party reviews, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Promoting quality practices that reduce rework, improve installation efficiency, and support responsible project delivery.
- Participating in continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen quality performance and project outcomes.
- Supporting a strong culture of safety, quality, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.
You bring a strong combination of electrical construction knowledge, quality control expertise, and field experience gained through supporting complex industrial projects.
- Technical school diploma or an equivalent combination of education, training, and hands-on experience in electrical quality control, electrical construction, inspection, or related disciplines.
- Typically 5+ years of experience performing electrical inspections, quality control activities, or construction quality oversight within industrial project environments.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, electrical construction methods, and installation practices.
- Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, regulatory requirements, industry standards, and project specifications.
- Experience conducting electrical inspections and verifying compliance with drawings, procedures, and technical requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to identify quality issues, evaluate compliance, and support effective corrective action implementation.
- Experience working within energy, chemicals, resources, manufacturing, power generation, infrastructure, or industrial construction environments.
- Familiarity with inspection and test plans, quality management systems, turnover documentation, and commissioning requirements.
- Ability to assess construction quality, identify deficiencies, and recommend practical solutions.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills with experience maintaining inspection records, test reports, and compliance documentation.
- Proficiency with quality control systems, inspection tools, digital reporting platforms, and document management systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience participating in audits, quality assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
