Contracts Attorney / Commercial Contracts Counsel

Location: Abilene, Tx

Description:

Our organization is seeking an experienced Contracts Attorney to support and strengthen our rapidly growing operations across construction, transportation, environmental services, logistics, and infrastructure development.

This role will serve as the company’s primary resource for drafting, negotiating, reviewing, and managing complex commercial agreements. The ideal candidate is highly business minded, thrives in fast paced environments, and has extensive experience handling contracts related to construction, trucking/logistics, vendor services, equipment, and large scale project operations.

This is a high impact role working directly with executive leadership and operations teams to reduce risk, improve contract structure, and support continued company growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Draft, review, revise, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements
  • Manage contracts related to construction projects, subcontractors, transportation, hauling, equipment, vendors, and service providers
  • Review customer agreements, MSAs, NDAs, purchase agreements, lease agreements, and procurement contracts
  • Advise leadership on contractual risk, liability exposure, indemnification, insurance requirements, and compliance issues
  • Partner with operations, accounting, HR, and project management teams to support day to day business activities
  • Help establish internal contract processes, standards, and approval workflows
  • Coordinate with outside counsel when litigation or specialized legal matters arise
  • Ensure agreements align with Texas law and industry regulations
  • Support dispute resolution efforts and contract enforcement matters when necessary
Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Texas Bar
  • 5+ years of experience focused on commercial contracts, construction law, or corporate transactions
  • Strong experience negotiating complex service agreements and vendor contracts
  • Experience supporting construction, transportation, logistics, energy, industrial, or infrastructure related industries strongly preferred
  • Ability to operate independently and work directly with executive leadership
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast moving, entrepreneurial environment
Preferred Experience:
  • Construction and subcontractor agreements
  • Transportation or trucking contracts
  • Data center or infrastructure project agreements
  • Vendor and procurement negotiations
  • Risk management and claims support
  • Employment related agreements and operational compliance
