Job Description

Tank Construction/Inspection

Location: Galena Park, TX

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior API 653 / 650 Tank Inspector to support inspection, maintenance, and construction activities for aboveground storage tanks. This individual will play a key role in ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and project specifications, while also providing construction oversight and coating inspection expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform or oversee tank repairs assuring work performed is in accordance with API 653 and 650 standards for aboveground storage tanks 
  • Provide construction management support during tank repairs, rebuilds, or new construction 
  • Monitor contractor work to ensure compliance with project specifications, API codes, and safety requirements 
  • Review drawings, inspection reports, and engineering documentation 
  • Perform or oversee coating inspections in accordance with **NACE International / AMPP standards 
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, and project teams to ensure timely execution of work 
  • Prepare daily inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation 
  • Ensure adherence to all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements 
Required Qualifications
  • Current API 653 Certification (required) 
  • Strong working knowledge of API 650 tank construction standards 
  • NACE (AMPP) Coating Inspector Level I or II certification 
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in tank construction, maintenance, and/or inspection
  • Proven experience with aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) in Oil & Gas, refining, or terminals environments 
  • Hands-on experience with tank repairs, alterations, and new tank construction projects 
  • Strong understanding of corrosion mechanisms, coatings, and materials 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in construction management or field supervision 
  • Experience working with terminal operators 
  • Strong communication and reporting skills
