Job Description

QA/QC Inspector 

Location: Tulsa, Ok

Description: 

We are seeking an experienced QA/QC Inspector to oversee quality assurance and quality control activities during the fabrication of custom-engineered process equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience inspecting fired heaters, pressure vessels, process skids, structural steel, piping, and welded assemblies in accordance with applicable industry codes and customer specifications.

This position serves as the primary quality representative between engineering, production, project management, customers, and third-party inspectors to ensure products are manufactured safely, correctly, and in compliance with contractual requirements.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform in-process and final inspections of fabricated equipment including:
    • Direct-fired heaters
    • Water bath heaters
    • Hot oil pump skids
    • Thermal oxidizers
    • Pressure vessels
    • Structural steel assemblies
    • Process piping and skid packages
  • Review engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, welding details, specifications, inspection test plans (ITPs), and customer requirements.
  • Verify material traceability, heat numbers, MTRs, and positive material identification (PMI) where required.
  • Inspect welding activities for compliance with approved WPSs, PQRs, and welder qualifications.
  • Coordinate and witness NDE including:
    • Radiographic Testing (RT)
    • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
    • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
    • Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
    • Visual Weld Inspection (VT)
  • Verify dimensional inspections using drawings and applicable tolerances.
  • Inspect pressure testing, hydrostatic testing, pneumatic testing, and leak testing activities.
  • Coordinate inspections with Authorized Inspectors, customer representatives, and third-party agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes including:
    • ASME Section VIII Division 1
    • ASME B31.3
    • API standards (where applicable)
    • AWS D1.1
    • National Board requirements
  • Maintain inspection records, NCRs, punch lists, and quality documentation.
  • Prepare Manufacturing Record Books (MRBs), turnover packages, and customer documentation.
  • Initiate and track corrective actions for quality issues.
  • Work closely with engineering and production to resolve fabrication issues while maintaining code compliance.
  • Support internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of QA/QC inspection experience in industrial fabrication, pressure vessels, process equipment, or oil & gas manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of welded fabrication practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, and engineering specifications.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • ASME Section VIII
    • ASME B31.3
    • AWS D1.1
    • Material traceability requirements
  • Experience with hydrotesting and NDE coordination.
  • Strong documentation and recordkeeping skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with customers, inspectors, engineers, and shop personnel.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • ASNT Level II or III certification (VT, MT, PT, UT, or RT)
  • National Board Inspector Commission (preferred but not required)
  • Experience with fired heaters, combustion systems, thermal oxidizers, or heat transfer equipment.
  • Experience working in custom-engineered equipment manufacturing.
