Principal Network Engineer

Location: Tulsa, OK or Remote

Description

This position is responsible for supporting and maintaining the functionality of the enterprise network. Support areas include voice, data, wireless, and security for the local area network and international wide area network. In addition to operational activities, this position will assist in network design activities including, review and assessment of user needs, evaluation and selection of equipment, and project specifications.

Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Enterprise Core Networking design and support for a Cisco Nexus 7000,6240 and 5500 switch family.

  • Display proficiency in these platforms.

  • Enterprise WAN Networking with experience in DMVPN and MPLS.

  • Perform troubleshooting, using a consistent methodology to diagnose network issues utilizing Sniffers and other network tools.

  • Monitor network performance and resources, proactively increasing network uptime.

  • Maintain IP scheme and manage DHCP scopes and DNS records

  • Act as an escalation point for other support teams and participate in the on-call rotation.

  • Assist the team with Call Manager and SIP support.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7+ years network/telecommunications experience

  • Technical degree preferred or equivalent experience

  • Thorough knowledge advanced networking switching and routing technology

  • Thorough knowledge of firewall technology and network security

  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco routers/switches/wireless/voice

  • Advanced knowledge of LAN/Wan Infrastructure Protocols

  • Understanding of network management processes and applications

  • Forward thinking and ability to adapt to evolving technology

  • Good troubleshooting and interpersonal skills.

  • Advanced knowledge of routing and routing protocols, specifically BGP,OSPF and EIGRP.

  • Experience with Wireless networks/controllers encompassing Aruba or Cisco hardware.

  • Experience with Firewall policies and rule sets to include Cisco ASA and Palo Alto hardware platforms.


The biggest differences would be less emphasis on the Nexus 7000,6240 and 5500 as we will be going away from these. But a greater emphasis on Cisco ACI and a strong understanding of network segmentation (both macro and micro segmentation). Also solid understanding of the below technologies is a big plus.

    • Toosets like Ansible and Terraform
