E&I Department Manager

Location: Houston, Tx

Description: 

We manage and integrate the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of large, complicated capital projects.  As a leader in energy transition, we engage our clients at early stages of EPC project development and as the E&I Department Manager you will lead all personnel and staffing to deliver E&I engineering and design for all phases of program planning and execution of multi-discipline engineering activities for large ethylene, LNG, renewables, and / or energy transition projects. The E&I Discipline Manager shall be responsible for managing a team of 65-70 personnel.

Job Description:
Manage and lead the delivery of E&I engineering and design for projects of every size and complexity executed by the organization’s Houston Operating Center. Typical project types include Engineering Studies, Process Design Packages (PDP), Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), Basic Design Packages (BDP), Detailed Engineering & Procurement (EP), and Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) efforts. The E&I Department Manager is responsible for the following tasks:
  • Management of the departmental budget, directly supervise the E&I Department resources including recruitment, hiring, development, training, career planning, performance reviews, and salary administration.
  • Provide Performance Appraisals and developing career plans for the E&I Department resources.
  • Primary interface point between E&I disciplines and Business Development for proposal work and with project management, project controls, procurement, and construction departments for project work.
Responsibilities:
  • Identify, implement and maintain the complete set of tools and procedures needed for the projects based on the contracting strategy, execution plan and the risks identified for different projects.
  • Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to the E&I Department Team Members consistent with the execution strategy on all projects.
  • Compliance monitoring with the agreed project controls processes.
  • Mentoring and leading the E&I Department Team Members.
  • Direct periodic technical reviews / audits of ongoing projects.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to E&I team.
  • Recruitment – Inclusion in selection and recruitment process, including interviews, input into resource management.  
  • Resolve issues and provide consistency between the deliverables for all projects.
  • Ability to travel occasionally required.
Qualifications:
  • Prior experience as a manager preferred.
  • Professional Engineering license required.
  • Minimum two successful assignments as overall Lead Engineer on large scale EPC projects.
  • Experience on large-scale energy and capital projects & Turnarounds.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented professional.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under time pressure.
  • Superior analytical, organizational, communication, and presentation skills
  • Extensive knowledge of work process for E&I disciplines
  • Extensive experience communicating effectively with Executives and Customers.
  • The tenacity and drive to inject value and create solutions.
  • Experience working on projects related to the energy transition business.

About You:

  • Minimum twenty (20) years applicable industry experience such as in Ethylene, LNG, Renewables, and / or Energy Transition projects
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
  • Ability to lead large diverse teams.
  • Multi center execution / workshare experience required.
