Description:
An Electrical Engineer for vehicles will design, develop, and test electrical systems—including communication systems, wiring harnesses, user interfaces, engines & powertrains —to improve vehicle performance, safety, and efficiency. They will troubleshoot issues, create schematics, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
- System Design: Develop electrical and electronic components, such as wiring harnesses, lighting, control modules, sensors, lighting, engine control interface, and user interfaces.
- CanBus Design: Design and maintain vehicle CanBus system
- Testing & Validation: Conduct tests, analyze data, and troubleshoot electrical systems during prototyping and production.
- Collaboration: Work with mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams to integrate components and create value.
- Compliance: Ensure designs meet industry standards (e.g., J-1939, OBD) and safety regulations.
- Documentation: Create and maintain electrical drawings, bills of materials, ECNs, user manuals, operational procedures, assembly procedure, and engineering processes.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with simulation software, CAD software, and circuit design tools.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of engines, power electronics, and vehicle embedded network systems.
- General Experience: 5+ years experience as Electrical Engineer.
- Specific Experience: Experience in vehicles, mobile machinery, or similar field is an asset
- Good understanding of industrial vehicle operation and trouble shooting
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Ability to read, interpret and understand vehicle electrical schematics
- Ability to use Autodesk software for 2D and 3D design work
- Work Environment: Office, field, repair shop and/or manufacturing facility.
- Occasional travel to manufacturing facilities and to the field.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the primary job responsibilities satisfactorily with.
