Job Description

Data Engineer Staff

Location: Oklahoma City, OK

Description


Responsible for developing and enabling the strategic use of data assets throughout the organization. Reviews, analyzes, forecasts, and evaluates business functions, operations, processes, and information to develop or modify databases, data models, application systems, analytical tools, or reports in support of business objectives. Serves as a primary interface between the business and IT regarding definition, implementation, and support of IT provided services. Included in this are providing continuous communication; eliciting and documenting requirements; and negotiating, setting and managing Service Levels. Ensures that the levels of IT service delivery are defined and achieved, both for existing and new services in accordance with the agreed targets.

 
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
General responsibilities with standardized processes. Works under limited supervision. Resolves routine questions and problems. Refers the more complex issues to higher levels. Follows established procedures to accomplish requirements of job. Some latitude for deviation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assists in gathering and documenting business and technical requirements in collaboration with senior engineers and stakeholders.
  • Documents technical processes, data flows, and system configurations with attention to detail.
  • Develops and maintains the data pipelines, services, and interfaces under guidance from senior team members.
  • Attends project meetings and contributes to discussions by providing input and asking clarifying questions.
  • Follows development standards and seeks feedback to improve code quality and consistency.
  • Participates in code reviews and training sessions to build technical skills.
  • Assists in resolving production issues by following established troubleshooting procedures.
  • Collaborates with offshore and cross-functional teams to support project execution and achieve organizational objectives and goals.
  • Routinely reviews development standards and provides feedback to leadership.
  • Writes functional requirements, implementation plans, documentation, and procedures with attention to detail and guidance from senior team members.
  • Supports troubleshooting procedures for incidents and on-call rotations.
  • Handles and prioritizes assigned tasks with accountability and communicates progress regularly to the next level of leadership.
  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or other related technical discipline, and 2 years experience as a Developer, System Administrator, QA Engineer/Tester, Systems Analyst, Business Analyst; OR
  • High School Diploma/GED and 4 years experience as a Developer, System Administrator, QA Engineer/Tester, Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, or related technical discipline.
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience developing and supporting Power BI reports, semantic models, and Microsoft Fabric data solutions, including dataflows, Lakehouse tables, and data refresh processes.
  • Experience writing SQL queries and troubleshooting data quality, transformation, and reporting issues.
  • Experience with Snowflake data warehousing, data modeling, and data integration concepts.
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and maintaining data pipelines across multiple platforms.
  • Experience documenting business rules, data lineage, technical processes, and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working with SAP data and enterprise reporting environments preferred.
  • Utility industry experience preferred.
  • Exposure to modern analytics and AI platforms, including Snowflake AI, Microsoft Fabric, Copilot, or related technologies, preferred.
