Description
The Senior Civil/Structural Engineer will be responsible for the Lead role on multi-discipline projects as well as technical activities relating to the design of steel and concrete structures related to new and existing onshore facilities. Â Included functions encompass assessment, analysis, and detailed design of platforms, foundations, skids, and related appurtenances. Â This involves project phases from conceptual engineering through construction, installation, and start-up. Â Design specifications, regulatory compliance, and project documentation are additional functions of this position. Â Coordinating with and directing Designers and Drafters of structural and other disciplines is required to accomplish project tasks.
Licensure as a Structural Engineer in Illinois is required.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage Civil/Structural Engineering portion of multi-discipline project:
- Assign work to junior engineers, mentor, and check quality of their work;
- Estimate resources require for project execution;
- Manage Civil/Structural Engineering budget and schedule;
- Interface with client representatives.
- Conceptual, preliminary and detailed structural analysis and design, related to a variety of onshore power and industrial facility projects;
- May perform structural analysis utilizing the STAAD suite of computer programs;
- Effectively reference current ACI, AISC, ASCE, API, AWS, ISO, and other industry regulatory, and project specific standards and codes;
- Work on projects of moderate size or portions of major projects;
- Develop project calculations and documentation using tools such as Mathcad, MS Word and MS Excel;
- Interface with design team which may comprise: project managers, engineers, drafters and support staff;
- Research, learn, develop and implement various design techniques which may be industry specific;
- Perform the necessary field work to obtain accurate information required to complete the assigned task;
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
- Illinois License in Structural Engineering is required;
- Knowledge and experience utilizing structural design codes including ACI, AISC, ACI and ASCE design guidelines;
- Ability to utilize applicable engineering software such as STAAD;
- Strong knowledge and skill with MathCAD, MS Excel and MS Word;
- Ability to complete discipline related duties independently;
- Ability to complete tasks that are client/project specific with high level direction;
- Familiarity with total project systems which would include mechanical, structural, civil and electrical components to allow consideration of those aspects in design;
- Ability to interact with all levels of staff (support, interdisciplinary project teams, management, etc.);
- Strong written and verbal communications skills;
- May require the ability to work overtime or travel to offsite work locations.
