Safety Supervisor

Location: El Dorado, AR

Description


The Safety Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and enforcing all safety and health requirements during the cleaning, maintenance, and remediation of incinerator baghouses. This role ensures compliance with HAZWOPER regulations, company policies, and applicable federal, state, and local safety standards. The Safety Supervisor serves as the on-site safety authority and works closely with project management, field crews, and clients to maintain a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement, monitor, and enforce site-specific Health and Safety Plans (HASP).
  • Ensure full compliance with HAZWOPER, OSHA, and company safety standards.
  • Conduct daily safety briefings, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and toolbox talks.
  • Monitor employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and respiratory protection.
  • Oversee air monitoring, exposure assessments, and confined space activities as required.
  • Inspect work areas, equipment, and processes related to baghouse cleaning operations.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and stop work when hazards are present.
  • Coordinate decontamination procedures and waste handling activities.
  • Maintain safety documentation, training records, and incident reports.
  • Investigate incidents, near-misses, and safety violations; recommend corrective actions.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for safety-related issues with clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to employees on safe work practices.
  • Support emergency response and spill containment activities.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
  • Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification with up-to-date 8-hour annual refresher.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of safety supervision experience in industrial, environmental, or hazardous materials environments.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing incinerator baghouse cleaning or similar industrial remediation projects.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, HAZWOPER standards, and industrial hygiene practices.
  • Experience with confined space entry, lockout/tagout, and respiratory protection programs.
  • Proficiency in safety reporting, documentation, and compliance tracking.

Preferred Certifications
  • OSHA 30-Hour (Construction or General Industry)
  • First Aid/CPR/AED
  • Confined Space Entry Supervisor
  • DOT HAZMAT Awareness (if applicable)

  • Ability to work in industrial environments, including elevated platforms, confined spaces, and dusty conditions
  • Ability to wear respiratory protection and full PPE for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and noisy environments

  • Industrial facilities, power plants, and waste-to-energy sites
  • Exposure to dust, ash, chemicals, and hazardous materials
