Rotating Equipment Engineer

Location: Sinclair, WY

Description


Seeking a Rotating Equipment Engineer to support a refinery operation in Rawlins, Wyoming. This role will focus on ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of rotating equipment assets, with emphasis on pumps, mechanical seals, and reciprocating compressors. The position is initially structured as a 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension based on performance and business needs. Target start date is November/December 2025, though January 2026 can be considered for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering support for refinery rotating equipment, with a primary focus on pumps and mechanical seals
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve equipment performance issues to ensure safe and reliable operations
  • Support inspection, repair, and maintenance activities on pumps, seals, and compressors (primarily reciprocating)
  • Work collaboratively with maintenance and operations teams to develop corrective actions and reliability improvements
  • Support spare parts management, vendor engagement, and technical specifications for rotating equipment
  • Assist in developing and implementing preventative and predictive maintenance strategies
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and refinery safety requirements

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred
  • 3–5 years of refinery or heavy industrial experience in rotating equipment engineering; additional experience welcomed
  • Strong background with pumps and mechanical seals
  • Familiarity with reciprocating compressors; ability to provide engineering support as needed
  • Solid troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a refinery environment and collaborate effectively with multi-discipline teams
