Location: Houston, TX

Description:

If you are selected as the
CTH Petroleum Engineer for the Performance Team, you will be a member of the Drilling, Completions, Facilities and Technology (DCFT) group, providing solutions to the functions across the company enterprise. This role works with the divisions, engineering functions, and business intelligence services to help strategically design, implement and support data analytics solutions. There is room for movement after 2-3 years into another group such as drilling, or completions or data science role to give a challenge and opportunity for growth.
As part of the Performance Team, you will have direct involvement with engineers to drive analytics solutions and value using data from various systems involved in supporting Drilling and Completions activities. 

Your responsibilities may include:
  • Responsible for a rig line and frac crew, ensuring all WellView information is entered in accurately and in a timely manner throughout the well life cycle
  • Full awareness of data, data modeling & analytics solutions and technologies
  • Supports the DCFT data platform and analytics roadmap
  • Translating business requirements into technical designs and deliverables
  • Work closely with DCFT engineers and operational staff responsible for day-to-day operations
  • Work closely with Senior Solution Architect responsible for DCFT data platform and analytics roadmap
  • Design & build dashboards to support integrated data solutions
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets to improve usability of analytics
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues and unexpected data anomalies
  • Analyze existing tools, data structures, models, and stores to provide solution recommendations and improvements
  • Providing regular reporting on the performance of DCFT operations
  • Delivering regular updates and maintenance on data analytics solutions
  • Collaborates with other functions that access DCFT data
  • Communicates analysis and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders

Qualifications
Basic/Required:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as a permanent resident, refugee or asylee
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Sciences, Engineering, Data Analytics/Science, other related technical discipline, or foreign equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry
  • 3+ years of experience with structured querying language (ANSI SQL, T-SQL, PL/SQL)
  • 3+ years of experience developing analytics reporting and dashboard solutions using tools such as: Spotfire, SSRS, Power BI, Tableau, Business Objects
  • 3+ years of experience with Drilling & Completions applications, datasets, and data models such as: WellView, Landmark EDT, WITSML and real-time rig sensor data
  • Basic level of proficiency in learning new technologies quickly and leveraging them in designing and delivering data & analytics solutions
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodations) to provide day-to-day and occasional after-hours support for business-critical solutions

Preferred:
  • Petroleum engineering background in drilling or completions with an analytical bend.
  • 5+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry
  • 5+ years of experience with structured querying language (ANSI SQL, T-SQL, PL/SQL)
  • 5+ years of experience developing analytics reporting and dashboard solutions using tools such as: Spotfire, SSRS, Power BI, Tableau, Business Objects
  • 3+ years of experience with Teradata, Teradata Vantage, Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake, AWS or Azure database/data warehouse solutions
  • 5+ years of experience with Drilling & Completions applications, datasets, and data models such as: WellView, Landmark EDT, WITSML and real-time rig sensor data
  • 1+ years of experience with Agile/SCRUM principles, tools (JIRA, ADO), estimation and planning
  • Advanced proficiency with developing analytics models and/or visualizations with R or Python
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to quickly recognize, isolate, and resolve challenging technical problems
