Permit Acquisition Analyst

Location: Austin, TX

Description

Assist in providing technical support and job performance analytics to engineering and construction departments related to permit acquisitions.

Utilize drafting computer and/or hand drawn information including but not limited to:

  • Complex engineering drawings

  • Highway/railroad crossing permits

  • Right of way drawings

  • Pipeline alignment/site/profile drawings

  • Maps

  • Property plats

  • Provide support in the coordination of gas construction permit acquisitions with Engineering; Project Coordination.

  • Read and comprehend the rules and regulations for city and municipal, department of transportation, and county jurisdictions for the area where permits will be obtained.

  • Assist in the review; selection of Traffic Control Plans associated with construction permits.

  • Create and/or maintain permit related databases and various other document sets.

  • Utilize surveying and measuring data from engineering or consultants to identify property markers, easements, and right of ways to obtain permits.

  • Provide information and assistance to internal and external customers, contractors, public works officials, employees, and others concerning permit related construction activity, job orders, billings, and other related issues.


Compile and/or prepare information, reports, and/or correspondence including but not limited to:

  • Permit documents for executing Construction

  • Letters and memos to internal or external customers

  • Right-of-way descriptions or land measurement if needed to obtain permits

  • Hard surface Restoration permit documents

  • Input and reconciliation of various entries in multiple databases

  • Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

  • Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

   
Position Requirements  

  • Minimum H.S. Diploma


Preferred Associate's Degree General studies and the following job-related experience:

  • Knowledge in the use and function of mapping software and office equipment applicable to position.

  • Experience with the application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

  • Application of decimals and percentages. (Tested)

  • Application of trigonometric and geometric formulas.

  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office 365 programs including Excel, Power BI, Dynamics, Teams, and Notes.


Working knowledge and training related to:

  • Pipe, mechanical, and architectural drawings

  • Computer assisted drafting (CAD) systems

  • English usage and spelling

  • Neat/legible lettering

  • Drawings or updates to drawings on job orders, completion reports, and related information


Ability related to:

  • Demonstrate a technical skill set

  • Process driven - able to develop a process flow of work performed

  • Analytical skills; able to develop metric of work performed

  • Multi-tasking; able to hand multi-layer of documents

  • Ability to read and review maps, atlas pages, plats, legal descriptions, and diagrams related to permit acquisitions.

Knowledge of reading, interpreting, and/or preparing written information including but not limited to:

  • Material lists

  • Right-of-way information

  • Maps

  • Blueprints

  • Legal descriptions

  • City and County permit regulations

  • Highway/Railroad permits

  • Building codes

  • Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external customers.

  • Minimum Applicable driver's license

  • Lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 2 to 3 times a week; up to 30 pounds 3 to 4 times a month.

  • Stationary for extended periods.

  • Fine motor skills to draw minute details.

  • Communicate and/or exchange information and instructions; conduct oral presentations and/or meetings.

  • Visual abilities sufficient to perform job duties.

  • Able to operate tools and equipment required.
