Location: Houston, TX

Description: 

The Database Administrator is responsible for implementation, configuration, maintenance and performance of Oracle servers, databases, and corporate applications. This role is a “hands-on,” technical position with direct system administration functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Configures, monitors, troubleshoots, performance tuning, clones, patches, and upgrades the Oracle EBS applications for effective business operations and administration
  • Security compliance by applying regular security patches
  • Performs Oracle EBS Applications database administration (DBA) tasks including patching, creating backup and recovery strategies, upgrading, performance tuning/optimization of Oracle EBS systems
  • Maintain a multi-node e-Business Suite environment with Shared File System, managing and administering Concurrent Managers, Concurrent Programs and troubleshooting Workflow Mailer/Notification issues
  • Working closely with senior leadership, clients, systems programmers, and development staff to define and resolve information flow and content issues
  • Working on multiple projects as an Oracle DBA or SME in database technology independently
  • Monitoring and analyzing performance metrics and allocating database resources to achieve optimum database performance
  • Supporting multiple servers and multiple databases of medium to high complexity (complexity defined by database size, technology, transaction velocity and volume, system feeds and interfaces) with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity and accessibility of the data
  • Performing fail-over testing and demonstrate expert level knowledge of networks, storage, encryption, security, cloud and backup and recovery technologies
  • Troubleshooting and remediating performance and capacity issues
  • Collaborate with internal technical teams for backup, infrastructure, and server support
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in Oracle Core and Oracle E-Business Suite administration, including Cloning, Refreshes, Installation, Upgrades
  • Patching of EBS R12.2 and Oracle databases 19c and 23c
  • Thorough working experience with multitenant architecture
  • Container and Pluggable database administration and cloning
  • Linux OS administration
  • Linux/Unix shell scripting for automation of day-to-day tasks like cloning
  • Hands on knowledge of the Oracle EBS application
  • Maintain a multi-node e-Business Suite environment with Shared File System, managing and administering Concurrent Managers, Concurrent Programs and troubleshooting Workflow Mailer/Notification issues SSL setup, load balancer setup for multi node applications, WebLogic console, Tuning JVM and other Oracle EBS maintenance scripts
  • Advanced skills in Oracle utilities AWR, ASH, ADDM and OSWatcher; OEM management and administration; proficient in problem diagnosis, shell scripting, PL/SQL programming skills and performance monitoring Should have worked with HANG Analyzer, system state dump, SQL Tuning, AWR analysis, Trace file analysis etc. 
  • Backup and Recovery skills with Data guard implementation, RMAN configuration & Setup
  • Should have strong experience in Oracle E-Business Suite Implementation, Maintenance Support Projects, Upgrades and Migrations
  • Good experience in Oracle WebLogic Server Administration and Oracle Access Manager /SSO integration
  • Should have working experience in different OS platforms like Linux and cross platform migration skills
  • Experience in DR setups, High availability system and knowledge on load balancers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with the business users and the OCI EBS (and RDBMS) Admin
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including Database/SQL monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security
  • Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
  • Experience in adpatch, adop and other tools to troubleshoot Oracle EBS issues
  • Experience with data virtualization
  • Critical thinker with excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree; degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or related field

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
  • 5-7 years required; 10 years of hands-on experience in Oracle Database Administration preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMAND
Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment. Incumbents must be able to perform work which includes typing, sitting, and standing. In the event that incumbent visits operations worksite, personal protection equipment, including head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame-resistant clothing is required. Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced. Employees must be willing to travel and work extended hours on short notice.
