Description
This position will be responsible for preparing CAD models, drawings & BOMs of mechanical components, equipment & machinery using AUTODESK Inventor software. This role will also resolve any mechanical and/or fabrication issues associated with CAD drawings. A wide degree of creativity, latitude, and judgment will be required in order to successfully fulfill this role.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
- Preparing drawings of mechanical components, equipment & machinery using AUTOCAD Inventor software program.
- Prepare documentation for procurement and manufacturing, including but not limited to
- Documentation to include but not limited to Engineering Change Notices, Deviations, Waivers, New Part Number requests
- May be involved in the fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of mechanical products
- May also participate in designing special modifications to existing machinery or parts
- Directly support manufacturing personnel in the preparation of detailed design, testing and prototype/production fabrication
- Continuously strive to reduce manufacturing costs through design improvement and consultation with the manufacturing, customer service, sales departments, and suppliers
- Work in accordance with all legislation and company policy requirements pertaining to employee safety, health and wellness
Education and Experience:
- 5 or more years relevant CAD drafting experience with heavy industrial mobile equipment in the construction, mining, agriculture, forestry, military, or other related industry
- An Associate’s or Bachelors degree in a related field
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to produce a full manufacturing specification package including engineering BOMs
- Proficient in using 3-D modeling tools (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
- Proficient in using 2-D drawing tools (Autodesk AutoCAD preferred)
- Basic understanding of analytical tools such as FEA and or MathCAD (Preferred)
- Strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Familiarity with DFMEA preferred
- Must demonstrate professional communication, problem solving, and self-management skills
- Experienced and skilled in 2D drawing construction in AutoCAD 2010 or newer.
- Must possess strong mechanical aptitude and be detailed orientated
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to interact effectively with colleagues and vendors
- Ability to work well independently, as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to use professional concepts and company policies and procedures to solve a limited range of complex problems requiring the regular use of ingenuity and innovation
- Demonstrated ability to meet schedule and cost goals
