Description
We are seeking a Mechanical Designer to support one of our clients who designs and assembles pump systems for industrial, commercial, and fire protection applications. The Mechanical Designer will develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for packaged pump systems, skids, piping layouts, and related mechanical assemblies. This role requires proficiency in 3D AutoCAD and a strong understanding of mechanical and structural components used in fluid-handling systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings and models for pump packages, skids, piping layouts, and mechanical assemblies.
- Generate bills of materials, fabrication drawings, and submittal packages.
- Interpret customer specifications and incorporate manufacturer data into design packages.
- Collaborate with engineers, shop personnel, and vendors to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet customer requirements.
- Maintain revision control, documentation standards, and drawing libraries.
- Provide technical support to fabrication and assembly teams to resolve build issues.
- Support layout optimization for accessibility, lifting, and maintenance clearances.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency with 3D AutoCAD (required).
- Minimum of 3 years of mechanical design or detailing experience in packaged equipment, piping, or industrial systems.
- Strong understanding of pumps, motors, piping, valves, and structural steel members.
- Experience creating fabrication drawings, BOMs, and submittals with revision control.
- Working knowledge of fabrication and assembly processes.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with internal teams and vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with pump packages or fluid-handling systems.
- Knowledge of industrial or fire protection standards related to mechanical assemblies.
- Familiarity with shop environments and design-for-manufacturing best practices.
