Design Manager
Location: Houston, TX
Job Description:
The Design Manager will transform, elevate, and manage the external and internal brand through creative marketing, optimized product design, and cultural leadership, with a strong customer-centric perspective.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Marketing:
- Work with the executive leadership team to define and manage marketing strategy.
- Design strategy and manage all digital marketing media: Website, SEO, Digital Advertising.
- Lead and manage social media strategy and execution.
- Design and manage influencer program.
- Manage and coordinate all aspects of industry events including schedule, exhibitions, trade shows, client advisory board meetings, booth, and swag requirements.
- Manage and coordinate webinar strategy and execution.
- Manage and coordinate video content program.
- Manage and coordinate client e-newsletters.
- Submit nominations and publications in other relevant media.
UI / UX Design:
- Develop and conceptualize comprehensive UI/UX design strategy for the company brand.
- Improve experiences for customers by ensuring high-quality design, including ownership of all front-end interaction points (e.g., company website) and software products.
- Collaborate with teams of Software Engineers, Product Owners, Customers, Researchers, and other business stakeholders throughout the design process to create standardized, original, simple, user-friendly, and elegant product designs.
- Provide creative solutions to user journeys, product designs, user interfaces, visual aesthetics, mockups, and prototypes.
- Develop user workflows, flow-diagrams, storyboards, and wireframes to communicate product designs to stakeholders.
Culture Leadership and Team Management:
- Forge a strong sense of connection between and across teams, working to break down silos.
- Work with the executive leadership team to define and manage cultural initiatives that promote a positive workplace.
- Manage internal communications including newsletters, announcements, townhalls, and other cultural initiatives.
- Assure high quality of design across the team by encouraging and enforcing good practices and design principles.
- Hold the design team accountable for adherence to processes, best practices, and company policies.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with team members and identify opportunities for growth and improvement within the team.
- Work with HR on processes for review, recognition, and discipline of team members.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a design or marketing field.
- Experience with web and software design technologies (HTML, CSS, Java, React, C# etc).
- Experience designing across multiple platforms and knowledgeable of the latest UI/UX techniques and technologies.
- 3+ years experience in creating UI/UX designs, prototyping, and researching user workflows and testing user interfaces.
- Proficiency in visual design and wire-framing tools (e.g., Photoshop, InVision, Figma, Illustrator, Paint, Gimp, Inkscape), effective design processes, user-interaction, and visual design skills.
