IT Tester
Location: Remote
Description:
The IT Tester is a lead mid-senior role focused on ensuring software quality through advanced testing methodologies, leadership, and alignment with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). In support of the Payments Transformation program (including Instant Payments, RTP, and FedNow), this role helps validate end-to-end payment flows, integrations, and controls to ensure timely, accurate, and reliable payment processing. The role requires expertise in both Waterfall and Agile environments and involves mentoring and stakeholder engagement.
- Advanced testing leadership: The role involves intermediate leadership in test case and data management, employing advanced testing techniques such as Black Box, White Box, and Grey Box testing, and applying BDD/TDD practices. It includes managing defect triage and defect management processes and balancing testing across unit, API, and UI levels.
- Technical and tool proficiency: The IT Tester must have intermediate skills in database management using Microsoft SQL Server, advanced proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and Zephyr for Agile tracking, and experience with Postman/API testing and low code automation tools like Copado Robotic Testing and TestComplete. Basic knowledge of infrastructure/cloud services and reporting tools like Power BI is also required.
- Leadership and mentoring: The position includes mentoring junior engineers, contributing to process improvement, leading stakeholder engagement, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. It may involve project lead responsibilities and supervising lower-level personnel.
- Nice to have payments domain knowledge: Familiarity with modern payment rails and concepts (e.g., RTP, FedNow, ISO 20022 messages, payment lifecycles/exception handling) and how they impact testing strategy, environments, and data.
- Experience and skills requirements: Candidates must have a minimum of five years of relevant QE/QA experience or equivalent certifications, with a preference for a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related fields. Essential skills include risk management, problem-solving, communication, and familiarity with relevant software tools like Salesforce and FIS products.
