Location: Alpine, AK
Primary Functions/Responsibilities:
- Lead by example in our Incident Free Culture.
- Work 2×2 week rotation; while on shift, be on call for all emergencies.
- Coordinate and ensure the safe execution of the emergency response training program, including but not limited to:
- Fire Department Operations
- Facility Emergencies
- Structural Fire Suppression and related activities
- Aircraft Emergencies
- Technical rescue practices
- State of Alaska Firefighter I program
- Company-level fire officer training
- Medical emergency response
- Haz-Mat Operations
Job Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Current, valid driver’s license
- Associate’s degree in fire/EMS-related field or equivalent
- State of Alaska certified EMT II or higher (or ability to obtain reciprocity)
- Certified Firefighter I or higher (IFSAC/Pro Board)
- 3+ years of experience leading and motivating emergency response volunteers
- Minimum 5+ years of experience with EMS practices, safety requirements, best practices, incident command system, NIMS, emergency equipment, and training methods
Preferred Qualifications:
- 7+ years of progressively responsible fire and EMS service experience
- Bachelor’s degree in fire, emergency management, EMS, or related field
- Certified Fire Service Instructor I or higher (IFSAC/Pro Board)
- Experience working with a career/volunteer combination department
- EMS patient care and transport experience (Paramedic preferred)
- Experience in training program development, evaluation, assessment, planning strategies, and achieving performance results
- Certified Incident Safety Officer
- Passion for training with education, certification, and instructional credentials that demonstrate this
- Ability to maintain and present all manner of data, records, and reports
- Takes accountability for actions and follows through on commitments
- Actively communicates and prioritizes safety to protect people and the environment
- Mentors, coaches, and develops others to bring out their full potential
- Builds positive relationships across organizations to foster a strong work environment
