Accounting Manager

Location: Tulsa, OK

Description


The Manager of Accounting is responsible for managing the financial accounting functions of the company and its affiliates by supervising the day-to-day activities of the financial accounting staff. This role is responsible for the oversight of cash management, accounts payable, fixed assets, general ledger, and budget functions of the company and affiliates, as assigned and observed and adhered to generally accepted accounting principles and ensures accurate reporting of accounting data and its analysis.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manages daily accounting operations, including accurate and timely preparation of journal entries, check requests, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring resolution of discrepancies and evaluating internal controls and adequacy of processes during review.
  • Reviews the financial statements for several entities monthly for accuracy, completeness and reasonableness.
  • Using judgment, evaluating financial statements for appropriateness, making recommendations to financial operations for improvements or changes.
  • Participate in the budget process for same areas of concentration.
  • Coordinates interfaces into general ledger assuring proper posting and reporting of activity.
  • Participates in preparation and coordination of yearly audit; preparing required workpapers and assisting audit staff upon request with the expected outcome of zero audit entries proposed and minimal recommendations from external auditors.
  • Preparation of tax returns or information required for assigned entities, including franchise, and personal property renditions.
  • Select, train, and evaluate employees for assigned responsibilities and organize workflow daily for direct reports, covering multiple areas of talent.
  • Maintains and evaluates accounting systems and procedures.
  • Continuously looks for improvements to implement.
  • Provides support to Financial Services Director and Vice President as needed.
  • Works with staff and managers from other departments to answer inquiries and provide financial information to them as needed, including budget requirements.
  • Assists in requests for special financial, budget, and statistical information for the company.
  • Assists with special projects as assigned.
  • Participates in the preparation and compilation of the annual capital budget and is responsible for the associated project, property, and equipment accounting throughout the year.
  • Perform analysis and reports consistent with the above.
  • Coordinates annual physical inventory of fixed assets.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of new initiatives.
  • Responsible for validation of month-end and year-end financial data.
  • Decision Making: Independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.

Skills:

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and other applicable software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal that present clear and concise information.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities with competing deadlines.
  • Sound ability to maintain professional and courteous and demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work in a complex financial system.

Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum five (5) years in healthcare.

Education:

Required Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

Preferred Certification & Licensure:
  • Certified Public Accountant.
