Description:
The Capital Project Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, analyzing, and reporting integrated project schedules for large-scale midstream and refining capital projects. This role supports all phases of project execution, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup. The Scheduler works closely with project management, engineering, procurement, construction, contractors, and project controls teams to ensure timely planning, forecasting, and schedule performance reporting. The role requires strong analytical capabilities, schedule risk assessment expertise, and the ability to communicate schedule impacts, mitigation plans, and forecast completion dates to project leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Schedule Development & Maintenance:
- Develop and maintain detailed resource loaded schedules using Primavera P6.
- Build integrated Level 1 through Level 4 schedules for major capital projects.
- Establish project baselines and maintain schedule integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure schedules accurately reflect project scope, execution strategies, and contractual requirements.
- Develop Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC), Commissioning, and Startup schedules.
- Create and maintain schedule coding structures, calendars, and activity attributes.
- Facilitate schedule development workshops with project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations teams to identify key milestones and execution constraints.
- Validate logic relationships, critical path activities, float calculations, and schedule health metrics.
- Develop recovery schedules and mitigation plans when schedule variances occur.
- Assist project teams in evaluating alternative execution strategies and sequencing options.
- Collect, validate, and update project progress on a regular reporting cycle.
- Analyze schedule performance and forecast completion dates.
- Identify schedule trends, productivity impacts, and emerging risks.
- Perform critical path and near-critical path analysis.
- Monitor schedule contingency consumption and recommend corrective actions.
- Evaluate contractor schedule submissions and verify progress claims.
- Generate weekly and monthly schedule reports for project leadership.
- Develop schedule dashboards, KPI reports, and executive summaries.
- Present schedule status, risks, opportunities, and recovery recommendations to management.
- Prepare milestone tracking reports and look-ahead schedules.
- Support earned value management (EVM) reporting where applicable.
- Develop schedule performance metrics, including:
- SPI (Schedule Performance Index)
- Critical Path Analysis
- Float Consumption
- Milestone Achievement
- Progress Curves (S-Curves)
- Schedule Health Indicators
- Risk & Change Management
- Participate in project risk assessments and schedule risk analysis.
- Support probabilistic schedule assessments and Monte Carlo simulations.
- Evaluate schedule impacts associated with changes, delays, and disruptions.
- Quantify time impacts resulting from scope growth, contractor performance issues, or unforeseen events.
- Support claims analysis and change order evaluations as required.
- Review contractor schedules for compliance with contractual requirements and project execution plans.
- Ensure schedule integration across multiple contractors and project execution teams.
- Participate in planning meetings, constructability reviews, turnaround planning sessions, and project reviews.
- Interface effectively with owners, EPC contractors, vendors, and field construction teams
- Minimum 5-10 years of project scheduling experience supporting capital projects.
- Minimum 5 years of Primavera P6 scheduling experience.
- Experience supporting projects in:
- Refining
- Midstream facilities
- Pipelines
- Terminals and storage facilities
- Experience working with EPC contractors and owner organizations.
- Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 Professional.
- Strong understanding of Critical Path Methodology (CPM).
- Resource loading and cost loading experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
- Knowledge of engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup processes.
