Job Description

Cost Engineer

Location: The Woodlands, TX

Description
  • Develop project plans for the duration of the project
  • Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, and labor expenses
  • Work with sales teams to prepare estimates and bids for clients
  • Consult with industry experts to discuss estimates and resolve issues
  • Use computer software to calculate estimates
  • Evaluate a product’s cost-effectiveness or profitability
  • Read blueprints and technical documents in order to prepare estimates
  • Collaborate with engineers, clients, and contractors on estimates
  • Recommend ways to make a product more cost effective or profitable
  • Interact with the engineering team, procurement, quality, manufacturing, marketing and suppliers
  • Coordinate project activity with marketing, quality, suppliers , manufacturing, and engineering functions
  • Analyze cost data and design drawings
  • Promptly anticipates cost overages or other unsatisfactory cost elements and prepares cost exception report
  • Primary responsibility will be to calculate part prices and tooling investments, both in new projects and support projects currently in progress
  • Provide support during the change management process
  • Provide suppliers with in-depth technical updates regarding their production lines or layouts related to cost drivers and investments
  • Frequent visits to suppliers and technical exhibitions to maintain knowledge of current product methods and materials

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years experience with gas and liquids production equipment and facilities including: Oil & Gas Separators, Oil & Gas Dehydration, Glycol Regeneration, ASME pressure vessel code and calculations of and/or training.

Physical Strain:
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment under pressure
  • Must be able to work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department
