Job Description
Location: Pasadena, Tx
Description:
Process Engineer plays a critical role in transforming conceptual ideas into safe, efficient, and operable industrial systems. Their primary purpose is to design, evaluate, and optimize processes that convert raw materials into valuable products—such as fuels, chemicals, or utilities—by applying principles of chemical engineering, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat and mass transfer. Within an EPC environment, process engineers define key parameters, develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and ensure that designs meet technical, safety, environmental, and client requirements. They serve as a vital link between concept development and detailed design, collaborating closely with mechanical, instrumentation, and construction teams to bring industrial facilities to life.
The Process Engineer III serves as a technical leader in the design and optimization of industrial process systems for complex EPC projects. This role leads the development of process engineering deliverables, ensures design quality and consistency, and coordinates closely with other engineering disciplines. With a deep understanding of process technologies, safety standards, and industry best practices, the Process Engineer III drives technical solutions that balance innovation, cost, operability, and compliance throughout project execution.
The Process Engineer III leads process engineering scopes on mid- to large-scale EPC projects and mentors junior engineers. The role requires expertise in process modeling, system design, and multi-discipline coordination, often acting as a technical lead.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Serve as Process Engineering Lead on multiple, or intermediate sized, projects.
- Lead process engineering workstreams and coordinate with other disciplines (ME, Piping, I&C, CS etc).
- Work with clients to develop project scope. Must be familiar with Front End Engineering activities and client stage gates.
- The ability and desire to lead and mentor less experienced engineers and clients in order to develop an optimal work environment for the company and its clients.
- Develop complex process simulations (steady-state and dynamic)
