Description:
We have a new opening for Staff Accountant to begin sourcing. This role will float between Staff Accountant – Corporate Accounting (more execution-focused, entries, reconciliations, close support) and Financial Reporting II (more technical + external reporting heavy, financial statements, GAAP research, FERC filings, consolidations). This is an entry- to junior-level accounting position. The scope primarily involves lower-complexity tasks, including basic financial statement preparation support, reconciliations (tie-outs), report extraction, and organizing data into standardized formats.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of accounting experience
- Financial statement preparation
- Attention to detail, ability to flip between tasks
Technical Skills:
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Journal entry preparation and financial close processes (month/quarter/year-end)
- Account reconciliations and variance analysis
- Financial statement preparation (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, equity)
- Regulatory reporting (FERC, government filings)
- GAAP application and technical accounting research/documentation
- Internal controls compliance, testing, and documentation
- Financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting processes
- ERP and financial systems usage (Oracle, Workiva, or similar)
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with Oracle, Workiva, or similar ERP/reporting tools
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Experience with consolidations and intercompany accounting
- Familiarity with FERC regulatory accounting and reporting
- Experience preparing financial statements and disclosures (including footnotes/MD&A)
- CPA certification
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform footing and cross-footing of financial statements
- Tie prepared footnotes back to supporting documentation
- Demonstrate a foundational understanding of debits, credits, and trial balances
- Prepare simple joint venture (JV) income statements and balance sheets
