Description:
We are seeking a mid- to senior-level Structural Engineer with Oil & Gas experience and an active Louisiana PE license to support engineering and design review activities. This role will focus heavily on the review and validation of structural connection designs for industrial facilities, including refineries, petrochemical plants, and related infrastructure.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in steel and concrete design, with a particular emphasis on connection detailing, constructability, and code compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Review structural steel and concrete connection designs for accuracy, safety, and compliance with applicable codes and standards
- Perform independent checks of connection calculations, including bolted and welded connections
- Evaluate contractor and vendor submittals, shop drawings, and fabrication packages
- Ensure designs meet project specifications, client standards, and regulatory requirements
- Provide technical guidance on constructability, field installation, and structural integrity
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including piping, mechanical, and civil engineers
- Support field issues, RFIs, and engineering clarifications during construction phases
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and project meetings as required
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight when needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Louisiana (required)
- 8–15+ years of structural engineering experience in Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial sectors
- Strong experience reviewing and designing structural connections (steel preferred)
- Proficiency with relevant design codes and standards (e.g., AISC, ASCE, ACI, OSHA)
- Experience with structural analysis and connection design software (e.g., STAAD, RISA, RAM, or similar)
- Ability to review and interpret fabrication drawings and calculations
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
- Experience supporting refinery or petrochemical facility projects
- Familiarity with offshore or coastal structural considerations (wind, corrosion, etc.)
- Previous experience in a lead or senior reviewer capacity
- Field experience supporting construction or turnaround (TA) activities
- May involve periodic site visits to industrial facilities
- Ability to support fast-paced project schedules and multiple concurrent reviews
