Description:
Procures, maintains, and delivers supplies needed for all surgery cases in an efficient, cost-effective manner.
Job Responsibilities:
- Communicates effectively with Surgery, Instrumentation Systems, and S&D personnel by requesting, receiving, locating, and delivering needed supplies in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Informs staff of breaks in aseptic technique related to packaging/ handling.
- Exhibits knowledge in functions of all shift responsibilities.
- Demonstrates ability to operate carousel, handheld computers, personal computers, and other inventory management tools.
- Utilizes handheld device to order, restock, and maintain surgery and anesthesia inventory.
- Maintains prescribed inventory PAR levels on carousel and supply carts.
- Monitors the case cart/supply process for each surgical case.
- Checks case cart against preference cards for completeness.
- Orders identified missing items and places on cart or informs circulator/clinical supervisor prior to the start of the surgical procedure.
- Cleans supply carts/bins according to the monthly assignment schedule.
- Coordinates the return of unused supply/instrumentation items.
- Removes unused/overstocked supplies/instrumentation from alcoves/carts in a timely manner.
- Returns unused items to their proper storage location according to PAR levels.
- Rotates stock when returning or replenishing items.
- Supports unit/hospital goals through PI and educational activities.
- Attends mandatory in-services and meets unit educational standards.
- Modifies behaviors or performance to comply with care standards and unit requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Surgical Services Resources Manager.
- Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited, and standard policies/protocols have been established.
- Working Relationships: Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction.
- Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction.
- Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
- Zero (0) – six (6) months of related experience.
- Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- High School Diploma or GED.
