Description
Seeking an exceptional Senior Fixed Equipment Engineer to play a key, strategic role in driving Safety, Environmental, and Operational excellence across the corporation. This role emphasizes mentoring and elevating the capabilities of plant site personnel, acting as a corporate-level subject matter expert for fixed equipment engineering and inspection.
Based in Houston, TX, this position requires autonomy and strategic thinking with frequent travel to multiple plant sites. The successful candidate will leverage their deep expertise to guide, train, and uplift site teams, supporting our commitment to business transformation and achieving stable, reliable operations throughout the organization.
Travel requirements range from 25% up to 50%, depending on business and site needs, with flexibility largely determined by the individual. This position offers a blended office/remote work arrangement.
What You Will Do
- Mentor Site Engineers and Technicians, promoting skill development and fixed equipment expertise.
- Travel to plant sites to deliver hands-on training sessions and workshops, enhancing local capabilities.
- Collaborate with site resources to scope, plan, and execute urgent work with subject matter expert accuracy.
- Lead by example in applying critical thinking, engineering calculations, and data analysis to ensure equipment stability and reliability.
- Develop and implement strategic improvements to engineering programs aligned with business objectives.
- Provide expert-level advice and challenge complex engineering, maintenance, or repair issues, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
- Engage with industry peers and business leaders to innovate fixed equipment inspection strategies, leveraging emerging technologies while adhering to risk management philosophies.
- Demonstrate strong willingness to travel, actively engage with multiple plant teams, and align corporate goals with site needs.
- Exhibit excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to influence and drive results.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 15+ years of experience in Fixed Equipment Engineering within a petroleum refinery or chemical manufacturing facility
- Experience mentoring and skill development in an engineering context
- Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without visa sponsorship
What Will Put You Ahead
- Proficiency with engineering software for pressure vessel calculations, heat transfer and fluid flow, Fitness for Service evaluations, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Experience in transformation and/or leadership roles
- Experience leading programs that influence responsibilities of an organization
- Master’s degree in engineering or a related discipline
