Job Description

Mechanical Engineer 

Location: Houston, TX

Description


We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer / Responsible Engineer / Project Manager to support a client specializing in custom pump system design and assembly for offshore and onshore fire protection, industrial water, and commercial building applications. This individual will manage projects from design through delivery, ensuring all engineering documentation, drawings, and data packages meet client and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate and maintain P&IDs for packaged pump systems and associated equipment.
  • Review, edit, and approve 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings for mechanical and electrical assemblies.
  • Complete and maintain pump datasheets and related project documentation.
  • Lead coordination with design, fabrication, and quality teams to ensure alignment between drawings, BOMs, and specifications.
  • Interface directly with customers, vendors, and internal project stakeholders to ensure project requirements and timelines are met.
  • Oversee all technical deliverables from design to system assembly and testing.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and customer specifications.
  • Participate in design and project review meetings and provide engineering direction as needed.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5–10 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in packaged equipment, pump systems, or related fluid-handling applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate P&IDs, review and edit 2D & 3D AutoCAD drawings, and develop complete project documentation.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical system design principles, rotating equipment, and fabrication processes.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with experience managing multiple projects concurrently.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working for an EPC company.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 20 and fire protection system design.
  • Project management experience, including scheduling, resource coordination, and client communication.
  • Experience leading multi-discipline project efforts from concept through commissioning.
