Description


We’re looking for someone who understands the technical language of drawings and wants to be part of a forward-thinking team focused on digital transformation. This role doesn’t involve traditional drafting or design work, but instead offers the opportunity to use your expertise to support a large-scale digital drawing migration and data mining initiative that will shape the future of how we manage and access engineering documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leverage drafting experience to interpret and analyze technical drawings from Oil and Gas assets
  • Support the digital transformation of drawing archives by identifying, classifying, and tagging drawings with appropriate metadata.
  • Apply data mining techniques to extract relevant information from drawing files and associated documentation.
  • Collaborate with digital transformation and data management teams to ensure accurate and efficient migration of drawing data into modern systems.
  • Identify patterns, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improving data quality and classification logic.
  • Contribute to the development of standards and best practices for drawing categorization and digital asset management.
  • Participate in Agile planning and sprint cycles, contributing to backlog grooming, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Work effectively within cross-functional teams and demonstrate the ability to lead or support large-scale initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Drafter in the Oil and Gas industry is required.
  • Strong understanding of industry-specific drawing types, standards, and terminology.
  • Familiarity with data mining concepts and the ability to work with large sets of technical data.
  • Experience working in Agile environments, with a solid understanding of sprint planning, task tracking, and iterative delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience leading or contributing to large-scale digital transformation projects is a plus.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to play a crucial role in our Design & Drafting Drawing Migration efforts. Williams drawings are stored in various digital libraries, in which you and this team will work to migrate these drawings into a new Master Drawing Library If you're excited about contributing to enterprise project, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and working in an Agile environment, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
Day-to-day migration efforts will include:
  • Daily use of: AutoCAD scripts & tools, Excel, OpenText, DvTDM, SharePoint PDF Library.
  • Pre-migration and migration efforts using AutoCAD, Excel macros & Microsoft Power Apps.
  • Modify AutoCAD/Xref file naming for library compatibility.
  • Identify a drawing and assign it to its proper discipline.
  • Post migration QA/QC data verification.
