Telecom Tech

Location: Oklahoma City, OK

Job Summary:

Performs installation, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance on communications and Telecommunication systems including phone switches, local/wide area, voice/data networks, fiber optic networks, PSTN data systems, Wireless Networks, Microwave systems, Mobile radio systems, and Smart Grid Technologies.

Level of Responsibility:
  • General responsibilities with standardized processes
  • Works under limited supervision
  • Resolves routine questions and problems
  • Refers the more complex issues to higher levels
  • Follows established procedures to accomplish requirements of job
  • Some latitude for deviation

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for implementing Safe Operating Practices.
  • Performs equipment inspections, special testing and maintenance.
  • Tune, adjust and makes operational checks on equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and equipment repair.
  • Verifies and installs equipment and cabling in accordance with designs.
  • Maintains data and records as required.
  • Coordinates work with customer and internal/external service providers.
  • Work with Contract Services.
  • Termination and testing of Fiber Optic Networks.

Education/Work Experience:
  • Associate's Degree in Electronics Technology or Applied science, And 2 years experience installing, testing, troubleshooting and performing maintenance on Telecommunication systems including Telephony, local/wide area voice/data networks, fiber optic networks, ATM data systems, microwave systems, Two way mobile radio systems, Wireless and Smart Grid technologies.
  • Valid State Driver’s License.

KSAs:
  • Proficient in installing, testing, troubleshooting and performing maintenance on communications systems including Telephony, local/wide area voice/data networks, fiber optic networks, PSTN data systems, microwave systems, two way mobile radio systems, Wireless and Smart Grid Technologies.
  • Demonstrated a broad understanding and knowledge of a variety of telecommunications technologies within company portfolio.
  • Intermediate knowledge and experience with various communications systems including telephony, data, fiber optics, microwave, mobile radios and Smart Grid systems
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities.
  • Strong Computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, CADS and basic programming skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with diverse personalities.
  • Team Player.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
  • May be required to work non-standard work schedules to include on-call, call-outs, weekends and holidays
  • May be exposed to stressful and hazardous conditions and inclement weather
  • May require extensive travel, by car, across the company footprint
  • Some overnight travel required may be required
  • May require the ability to climb in structures such as radio and microwave towers
  • Must have or obtain all required certifications
