Well Planner
Location: Midland, TX
Description
If you are selected as the Well Planner, you will be supporting our Permian Business Unit. You will participate in multi-discipline well planning as well as developing well plans in agreement with stated well and project objectives. This will be done in full compliance with applicable policies, standards and regulations, with a focus on safety of personnel, environmental stewardship and operational integrity.
Responsibilities may include:
Design complex well plans for multi-well/multi-pad drilling program
Collaborate with drilling team to ensure well plan designs achieve cost effective performance in fast paced horizontal drilling program
Advise drilling engineers on appropriate survey programs to ensure wellbore positioning accuracy
Gather and interpret offset well data for accurate Collision Avoidance analysis
Prepare daily Plan Vs Actual (PVA) reports and End of Well reports
Daily Collision Avoidance Monitoring - Generate anti-collision reports and corresponding plots
Knowledge of State/Federal regulatory agencies and applicable regulations as needed to ensure compliance for regulatory permitting and execution
Establish communications with core disciplines to incorporate objectives into project development plans as requested by Asset team
Communicates with the Asset team throughout the development process providing options as needed for design constraint mitigation
Tracks project progression from conception to execution
Expert Level Landmark EDM (Compass) user. Manage database to ensure accuracy and consistency
Proficient Landmark DecisionSpace Well Planning user
Proficient AutoCAD Users
Proficient MS Office Suite Users
Participating in benchmarking studies (both internal and external) to identify, transfer and apply best well planning practices
Evaluate application and implementation of best well planning practices and new technology
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Requirements:
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Bachelor's degree preferred in related field
2+ years of well planning experience in the upstream industry
1+ years of experience working directly for an oil and gas operating company
1+ years of experience in unconventional reservoir plays
Able and willing be on call outside of standard working hours
Preferred:
Strong communication skills and ability to effectively collaborate with key stakeholders and other team members to meet goals.
5+ years of industry experience in all aspects of well planning

Knowledge of well reporting (WellView)software
Knowledge of ArcMap and Global Mapper software

Ability to work as a team player with willingness to handle assigned tasks, whether simple or complex
Ability to work in a fast-paced organization and multi-task
Strong communication and teamwork skills
