Systems Engineer - Hybrid

Location: Tulsa, OK

Description

The Systems Engineer is responsible for the provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, network, and related infrastructure.

Duties    and    Responsibilities

Daily Operations

  • Manage network, server, and desktop hardware, operating systems, applications, and peripherals throughout the Systems Development Lifecycle.

  • Manage physical and logical access control systems and respond to associated access change requests.

  • Contribute to the Vulnerability Management program by performing vulnerability scans, evaluating and implementing security-related updates, and managing the Endpoint Protection solution across the infrastructure.

  • Deliver timely and effective solutions for Event and Incident Management activities to address system or network related issues reported by internal or external customers.

  • Escalate issues to vendor support when appropriate.

  • Develop and maintain procedural documentation, configuration documentation, and standards to ensure high-quality, consistent, and secure infrastructure.

  • Perform regularly scheduled tasks to comply with Information Security and related policies.

  • Contribute to Business Continuity readiness by verifying that the Data Protection scheme meets performance targets through reporting and practical exercises.

  • Maintain network monitoring and security solutions to record, monitor, and alert on resource utilization, availability, and security related events.

  • Implement and maintain reports that capture infrastructure Key Performance Indicators and help determine decision thresholds for capacity planning.

  • Provide feedback to continuously improve policies and procedures.

Project Work

  • Perform or contribute to design efforts for new infrastructure initiatives.

  • Administer VPN solutions for securing communications between sites and partner entities.

  • Contribute to customer-facing projects as Subject Matter Expert or direct contributor as needed.

General

  • Adhere to Change Management policies and procedures.

  • Maintain familiarity with PCI DSS requirements and perform duties to ensure compliance.

  • Identify tasks that are ideal candidates for automation, then implement or contribute to automation efforts.

  • Focus on value by analyzing the potential benefits, risks, and level of effort of work items.

  • Strive to provide an excellent customer experience when dealing with internal or external users.

  • Research and apply best practice approaches to all aspects of the job function.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in a technical major such as Information Systems, Computer Science, or Engineering or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of experience in systems administration

  • 2+ years of experience in network administration

  • Excellent customer service, communications, project management, and organizational skills

  • Ability to adapt to and positively influence a fast-paced environment

  • IP Routing, Ethernet switching, remote access VPN, LAN-to-LAN VPN, and network security administration (Cisco IOS, ASA, and Firepower preferred)

  • Linux, Windows Server, and Active Directory administration (RHEL 7+ and 2012 R2+ preferred)

  • Converged infrastructure and SAN technology administration (VMware preferred)

  • Willingness to take initiative and apply critical-thinking and analytical process to problem-solving
