Sr. Network Operations Engineer

Location: Oklahoma City, OK

Description

Designs and maintains core campus network architecture, operations, and engineering within production and non-production environments across a global footprint; including software maintenance and licensing. Design and implementation of future network projects and upgrades. Ensures accurate documentation of network configurations and topologies. Assists junior team members in troubleshooting of advanced network problems. Mentors other IT staff to grow them technically and professionally.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing final-tier support for highly impacting network related issues and events.

  • Developing network standards with a focus on platform, hardware, software, and configuration methodologies

  • Designing User Network Architecture, operations, and engineering within production and non-production environments across a global footprint.

  • Optimizing network performance via network performance monitoring and analysis, performance tuning and network automation; provides guidance on network automation risks.

  • Assists in defining network policies and procedures

  • Expert knowledge of troubleshooting network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency;

  • Planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of networking equipment;

  • Designing compatible network expansions in accordance to User Network standards

  • Designs projects for the setup of new networks and procurement of data center circuits.

  • Meeting regularly with providers for project updates and providing direction to vendors.

  • Troubleshooting network problems and escalating problems to vendors.

  • Securing network by implementing network access protocols, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.

  • Supporting peers and users on network related topics and technologies.

  • Driving network enhancements by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing the enhancements.

  • Meeting fiscal requirements by adhering to defined budgets.

  • Continually growing job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; staying up to date with industry standards and new technologies; reading professional publications.

  • Protecting the organization's value by keeping information confidential.

  • Accomplishing organization goals by accepting ownership for completing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Managing work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projects.

  • Identifying opportunities and recommending solutions for improving service efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Acting as subject matter expert to senior management for recommending new industry/technical solutions.

  • Building, supporting, and maintaining support documents, standard operating procedures and policies related to the network, security systems, and best practices.

  • Leads the team in the documentation of the network, applications and resources on the network

  • Documents specific duties, activities, problems solved and issues resolved

  • Maintains accurate topology diagrams and documentation of the network, applications and resources on the network.

  • Train team members in the Paycom infrastructure and best practices.

  • Ability to follow through with tasks, projects and troubleshooting with minor supervision.

  • Provides direction and support regarding the network impact of business initiatives.

  • Assists business unites in solving problems via network technologies.

  • Provides business units recommendation to optimize development from a networking perspective.

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required.

  • High School graduate required.

Experience:

  • 9+ years of Network Operations Experience

  • CCNA Preferred

  • CCNP R&S Preferred

  • LAN/WAN-TCP/IP,MPLS,VPN, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, NAT

  • Network Performance Tuning SNMP, NetFlow, IP SLA

  • Cisco Routed Campus: Catalyst 9500/9300 Series

  • HSRP/VRRP

  • SDWAN Technologies

  • Proven experience in Wireless technologies and security practices

  • Cisco ISE, 802.1x and other NAC solutions

  • Implementing and maintaining disaster recovery solutions

  • Network Automation

  • Network Backup and Archive procedures

  • L3 Access Configuration/Maintenance

  • Network Design and Implementation

  • Thousand-Eyes Network Monitoring
