Description
The candidate will be a technical specialist, providing department oversite on multiple projects. They will help develop superior technical solutions for projects using their experience to avoid common pitfalls. The candidate will interface with the client and vendors to represent the department. They will perform checking for deliverables and project quality audits. The candidate will help develop estimates for new projects and review estimates prepared by others. They will help lead department initiatives for goals and safety. The candidate will assist with hiring, performance evaluations and other department activities as required.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the lead engineer to ensure that execution of work coincides with the company standard practices and procedures.
- Prepare engineering solutions to assist the lead engineer. Perform calculations and other tasks as required.
- Perform checks on deliverables to ensure quality.
- Work with vendors to develop the best technical solutions that are economical.
- Develop material and man hour estimates for new projects.
- Interface with other disciplines for a coordinated design
- Interface with vendors for industry leading technical solutions for projects.
- Apply industry standards and best practices.
- Assist with department initiatives.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide training.
- Assist with hiring and performance evaluations.
- Will actively learn and apply HR policies.
- Assist the department manager on reporting and other department activities.

- Apply NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IBC and other applicable codes to the design and mentor others in use.
- Must be able to read P&IDs
- Ability to lead and interact with engineers and designers and set clear work expectations.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work
- Familiar with electrical construction techniques, installation practices and commissioning
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good people skills including listening
- Good written and oral communication skills
- PDF editing software (Bluebeam)
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams)
- BSEE from an accredited college or university
- 20 + years’ experience in electrical engineering
- Licensed PE required. Must be working towards PE licensure if not already obtained.
- The person in this position must be able to travel to job sites and move about the job to collect data for projects.
- The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access files, use copy machine, printer, and other office productivity equipment.
- The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Follow all company and client operating procedures, standards, policies, and training to ensure safe and efficient operation on the site.
- Actively participate in the company safety program by correcting or reporting unsafe acts and/or conditions
- Take part in and support HSE initiatives
