Description:
The Safety Supervisor – Turnaround & Capital develops, implements, and evaluates the quality of safety programs and procedures related to maintenance events and capital projects to assure personnel and facility safety. The supervisor monitors and controls the organization’s safety standards in accordance with OSHA and other regulations. Additionally, this role is responsible to conduct trend analysis, audits, accident investigations and site inspections of operational procedures, facility design, equipment and materials and will oversee, and analyzes data and advises appropriate recommendations to prevent new or recurring accidents.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, plus 10 years of safety experience (highly preferred)
- Experience in refining, petrochemical, or chemical facility with turnaround and/or capital project safety leadership
- Leadership experience including developing and implementing plans and processes, developing teams, and audits/investigations
- Strong Computer Skills including use of Microsoft Office Suite of applications
- Experience with implementation of enterprise wide HSSE data reporting/capture software applications (such as Enablon), preferred
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and/or part of a team
- Valid driver’s license
- Eligibility Requirements: The Maritime Transportation Security Act requires all persons who will need unescorted access to a regulated facility to have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), issued in accordance with the rules established by the United States Coast Guard and the Transportation Security Administration. Candidates selected for employment must meet eligibility criteria to obtain a TWIC card. - Management of overall turnaround and capital safety processes
- Drive continuous improvement of safety performance by standardization of safety planning and audit processes
- Manage field safety personnel to support the refinery turnaround and capital projects organizations
- Develop individual TA/capital safety action plans
- Coach and mentor safety, refinery and contractor personnel via individual interactions, safety huddles, group training, including constructive feedback to enhance developmental needs
- Perform audits to ensure compliance with health and safety procedures
- Participate in incident investigations as Leader or Team Member; this includes developing PowerPoint presentations and presenting to leadership
- Perform other tasks and/or projects as assigned by the Health & Safety Manager.
