Enterprise Architect Expert

Location: Oklahoma City, OK or Remote

Summary:


Leads IT and business unit members in the envisioning and design of solutions that combine business process, information, applications and technology to solve business problems.

Level of Responsibility:
  • Responsibilities are varied and complex. Often works outside area of assigned duties.
  • Applies advanced skills in multiple areas.
  • Resolves complex issues which impact business operations both inside and outside own department.
  • Makes un-reviewed decisions related to the area of responsibilities.
  • Opinions carry significant weight in policy and strategy decisions.

Primary Duties:
  • Conduct research on technology trends, identifying opportunities that should be included in strategy and architecture planning and integration processes.
  • Model and assess the organizations' current state (or baseline) Architecture. Steward the Enterprise Architecture artifact repository ensuring information is relevant and updated in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technology experts (including IT and OT) to ascertain system functional capacity, constraints and support lifecycles.
  • Monitor and report on project compliance and alignment to IT strategy.
  • Develop and maintain a strategic vision for the capabilities and delivery of technology based on key business drivers and technology trends.
  • The strategic vision should provide explanation of the “why” behind guidance provided and should look ahead two to five years.
  • Shape reference architectures for information systems and technology based on strategic business and operating models.
  • The Reference Architectures will describe the “what” and the “how” necessary to meet the technology vision and should promote reusable building blocks that can compose powerful yet cost-effective solutions.
  • Build strong relationships and collaborate with IT Service Managers, Business Relationship Managers and members of the technology architecture community of practice (including Enterprise Architecture, Security Architecture, and Solution Architecture) in the development of design standards and associated technology recommendations for new or changed IT Services in the Enterprise Portfolio. Communicate technology vision, strategy, principles, and standards as required to drive understanding, alignment, and adherence.
  • Produce models to describe the artifacts, principles, frameworks and strategy.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technology experts, and business thought leaders (including IT, OT, and Products and Services) to develop technology recommendations and maintain associated strategic and technology roadmaps, responding to and incorporating both strategy and business planning imperatives.
  • Champion the development of strategic capabilities in all facets of strategic and tactical implementation from conception to post deployment.
  • Provide expert consultancy in the development and planning of the project portfolio and capital budget allocation.
  • Coach solutions architects in the development of solution architectures.
  • Mentor less experienced architects by guiding, training, advising and providing support.
  • Develop concise principles, strategies and frameworks that provide direction and establish boundaries for members and partners charged with designing and building solutions.
  • The artifacts should provide enough clarity to expedite decision making while moving the organization toward strategic goals and objectives.
  • Where possible, lead and provide hands-on work for research and development of information technology solutions. This includes proof-of-concept stand-up, testing and evaluation leading to a technology recommendation that is cost-justifiable based on
  • business value provided by the solution.
  • Provide cross project architectural governance that includes identifying relevant strategy, policy and roadmaps.
  • Ensure standards and framework compliance by providing an architectural oversight function as part of regular tollgate reviews
  • Provide advice and consultancy on technology strategy and related priorities to management and leadership teams.
  • Develop and articulate an overarching vision and associated recommendations that could lead to or significantly impact company strategic initiatives.
  • Represent strategic planning at significant industry events.
  • Develop a version of Reference Architectures that depict possibilities beyond those already expected to be deployed.
  • Provide guidance to and oversight of Proofs of Concept or Pilots for opportunities that require empirical evidence to gain needed insights.

KSAs:
  • Ability to produce, manipulate, communicate, and implement or enhance Enterprise Architecture concepts, roadmaps, principles or effective strategies.
  • Broad knowledge of corporate policies and business strategies including disaster recovery, business continuity and risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and influence at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and guide the implementation of business aligned IT strategic plans.
  • Ability to think laterally and constructively question established process.
  • Exceptional leadership, planning, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of EA frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman or FEAF.
  • Knowledge and understanding of OGE business process, objectives, milestones and structure.
  • Strong facilitation skills

Experience/Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, CIS, or other directly related discipline plus twelve (12) years experience in building IT solutions, documenting and defining Architecture (data, applications, security), Enterprise Architecture standards and practices, working with COBIT implementations, and building Architecture frameworks.
  • In lieu of a degree eighteen (18) years experience is required in building IT solutions, documenting and defining Architecture (data, applications, security),

  • Must hold at least one or complete one technical certification (ITIL Foundation Certification or TOGAF Certification) within first year.
