Ah, February.  The end of winter is on the horizon, but it’s not quite there yet. It’s a time of year when cabin fever really begins to set in, but you don’t have to be confined to your own four walls this month. There are lots of things to see and do in Tulsa in February, no matter what your interests may be.

Lara Logan

War journalist Lara Logan will be speaking at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center on February 1st at 10:30 AM.  Her talk will focus on the ways in which growing up in South Africa during Apartheid has shaped her world view and professional career. Information is available at www.tulsatownhall.com.

Coffee and Code

Sometimes work can be fun. If you’re interested in coding, check out Coffee and Code on February 8th at Centennial Science & Engineering Library – DEN 2 from 9-11 AM.  This is part of a monthly series that University Libraries’ Research Data Services program presents, focusing on tools and strategies that make data management, analysis, visualization, communication, and sharing more efficient and more fun. Each begins with an introduction to the topic followed by an open lab to experiment with what was taught.

Funday Sunday at Gilcrease

Sunday, February 17th from Noon to 4 PM, Gilcrease Museum will host Funday Sunday, where visitors can participate in art-making stations. There will also be art scavenger hunts and special activities for children. Admission is free the entire day for visitors of all ages, even if you do not participate in the activities. Sunday in the Park with George

From February 15th, 2019 – February 24th, 2019 (Every Sunday, Friday, Saturday), Tulsa Performing Arts Center will be running the Tony Award-winning musical, Sunday in the Park with George. Inspired by the painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat, this musical by Stephen Sondheim merges past and present. More information is available online.
