Howdy everybody and welcome to yet another episode of Weekend Plans in Tulsa — your weekly events podcast that takes about as long to listen to as it takes you to straighten your desk. This week’s episode will be covering September 7th through the 9th, 2018.

Before we completely hop into all of the fun this weekend, I just wanted to plug our sponsor really fast. The weather for this weekend is looking like one big “meh.” Friday has an 80% chance of rain with possible thunderstorms with a high of 81, Saturday has a high of 76 with a 40% chance of rain and Sunday will be partly cloudy and a high of 77.

Let’s hop into the weekend with a few events taking place all weekend long.

Starting with some fun out in Wagoner, Oklahoma is the 39th Annual Bluegrass and Chili Festival. If bluegrass and chili are your jam, you can learn all about it http://bluegrasschilifest.com

If sci-fi and the world of the super are more your speed, the WizardWorld Comic Con will be going down at the Cox Business Center.
Some of the celebrity guests this year include:
Ron Perlman of Hellboy and Sons of Anarchy fame
Billy Boyd who played Peregin Pippin Took in Lord of The Rings
the lovely Nichelle Nichols who played the famous Uhura of Star Trek will be there and Brianna Hildebrand, who you may know better as Negasonic Teenage Warhead from Deadpool and Deadpool 2
as well as Thomas Ian Nicholas of Rookie of the Year and American Pie.

Also, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably know that The Gathering Place, Tulsa’s new 66-acre park that cost over $400 million to build over the course of several years is opening this weekend! With the park’s opening are a variety of events. Some of these events include concerts over the course of the next 100 days, professional skateboarding and BMX demos at the park’s extensive skatepark and BMX tracks, and many other events for the kids and kids at heart.
